First NSCA registered shoot this weekend - what should I expect?
I've been shooting sporting clays at my local club for a few months and finally signed up for my first NSCA registered shoot. Shooting a Beretta A300 with a modified choke, usually using Federal Top Gun 7.5 shot. I'm nervous about the whole process - how early should I get there, what's the check-in like, and what do I need to bring besides my gun and shells?

Welcome to registered shoots! First off, don't stress - we've all been there. Get there at least an hour before your squad time to check in, pay any fees, and get your scorecard. Bring your NSCA card if you have one, ear/eye protection, and a shell pouch helps. Most shoots have a safety meeting before starting - listen carefully to the referee's instructions. The biggest difference from practice is the pace - you'll shoot 50 or 100 targets straight through with your squad. What's your local club? Some have practice shoots that mimic registered events.
