First NSCA registered shoot this weekend - what should I expect?
I've been shooting sporting clays at my local club for about 6 months and finally signed up for my first NSCA registered shoot. Shooting a Beretta A400 Xcel with Modified choke, usually 1-1/8 oz #8 shot at 1200 fps. I'm comfortable with the basics but nervous about the formal competition setting.

Welcome to registered shoots! First off, don't stress - everyone remembers their first one. Get there at least an hour early to check in, get your scorecard, and walk the course if possible. Most NSCA shoots have 100 targets over 10-15 stations with varying presentations - expect everything from crossing rabbits to high overheads. Your setup sounds solid for a beginner; just remember to keep your gun safe (action open) between stations and follow squad etiquette. What club are you shooting at?
