In what situations would you choose a semi auto instead of an over and under?

I've been shooting only with a over under shotgun all my life. I've seen some people that swear by their semis. In what situations are they better than an over/under.

I really think it boils down to preference.  I will say though that I as a woman have found that the semi auto tends to have a lower recoil. I also dont seem to tire out as much with a semi auto and I attribute that to not having to open and close after each shot.
