Just bought my first shotgun - what should I do next?
Hey everyone, I just picked up a used Beretta A300 Outlander 12-gauge from my local shop. It came with a modified choke tube installed. I've never owned a shotgun before and want to start trap shooting. What should I focus on first - patterning it, getting different chokes, or just hitting the range?

Congrats on the A300 - that's a solid starter gun! First thing I'd do is pattern it with some basic target loads like Federal Top Gun 7.5 shot at 40 yards to see how your modified choke performs. Don't worry about buying more chokes yet - modified is actually great for trap. I'd spend your first few sessions just getting comfortable with mounting and swing, maybe at 16-yard line. What loads did you pick up with the gun?
