Just bought my first shotgun - what's next?
Hey everyone, I just picked up a used Remington 870 Express 12-gauge from my local shop. It came with a modified choke tube installed. I've never shot a shotgun before and want to try trap shooting. What should I do first? Should I just show up at the range with this?

Welcome to the sport! First thing - don't just show up and start shooting. Find a local club that offers beginner instruction. Most places have "learn to shoot" days where they'll teach you safety, stance, and mounting. For trap with that 870, you'll want to start with light target loads - something like Federal Top Gun 1-1/8 oz #8 shot at 1200 fps. That modified choke is actually pretty good for trap beginners.
