Struggling with consistency on station 8 at my local sporting clays course

Been shooting for about 2 years now, mostly sporting clays with my Browning Citori 725. I've got the basics down, but station 8 at my club is killing me - it's that long crosser from the high tower. I'm using a Modified choke and 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps, but I'm only hitting maybe 2 out of 5. Anyone else have this problem?

Station 8 is a classic tough one! That long crosser requires a solid lead and smooth swing. With a Modified choke and #8s, you've got the right setup - Federal Top Gun or Winchester AA would be perfect. Try focusing on your foot position: point your lead foot toward where you'll break the target, not where it comes from. Keep that swing smooth and don't stop your gun. What's your typical lead on that bird - are you giving it enough room?
