Just bought my first shotgun - what should I do next?
Hey everyone, I just picked up a used Remington 870 Express 12 gauge from a local shop. It's my first shotgun ever and I'm excited to get into trap shooting. I've never owned a firearm before, so I'm not sure what I should be doing first - clean it? Buy shells? Find a range? Feeling a bit overwhelmed!

Welcome to the sport! First thing - definitely give that 870 a good cleaning. Used guns can have old gunk in them. Grab some #7.5 or #8 target loads from Federal or Winchester (they're gentler on the shoulder for beginners). Then find a local club with a trap range - most have new shooter programs where someone will walk you through the basics. They'll show you proper mounting and safety stuff. What part of the country are you in? Maybe someone here can recommend a good club near you.
