Anyone else find their pattern gets too tight with a full choke on 16-yard station 7?
Been shooting my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon for years, mostly sporting clays. Lately on station 7, that long crosser from the right, I'm breaking them but the pattern looks like I'm peppering them. Using a full choke with 1 1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps. Feels like I'm hitting them with a baseball instead of a spread. Tried a modified choke and it felt better, but I hate switching mid-round.

Yeah, I had the same issue with my Browning Citori on that exact station. A full choke at 16 yards is overkill for most crossers - you're basically shooting a rifle slug pattern at that distance. I switched to an improved modified for everything inside 20 yards and my breaks got much cleaner. Try a light modified or even improved cylinder for those closer stations, you'll get a more forgiving pattern. What's your go-to shell for those mid-range targets?
