Just bought my first shotgun - what should I do next?
Hey everyone, I'm brand new to shooting and just picked up a used Remington 870 Express 12 gauge. Got it for a good deal at my local shop. I've never owned a gun before and honestly feel a bit overwhelmed - what should I be doing first before I even think about shooting? Clean it? Take a class? Just looking for some friendly advice from those who've been there.

First off, welcome to the sport! That 870 is a solid first gun - I started with one too and still have it. Definitely take a safety class before anything else - most ranges require it anyway. While you're waiting for the class, give that 870 a good cleaning (it's probably needed if it's used) and get familiar with how it works. What kind of shooting are you most interested in - trap, skeet, or maybe some sporting clays?
