Just bought my first shotgun - a Beretta A300 - and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Where do I even start?

I've been to the range a couple times with friends and finally took the plunge with a Beretta A300. It's still in the box, and I'm staring at the manual wondering about chokes, ammo, and what to practice first. I'm in the Chicago area if that helps for club suggestions.

Welcome to the sport! The A300 is a fantastic first gun - reliable and soft shooting. Start by getting familiar with the safety and loading/unloading with dummy rounds. For your first range trip, I'd stick with the modified choke it came with and some light target loads like Federal Top Gun 7.5 shot. Find a local club with a beginner-friendly trap field; just focus on mounting the gun consistently and following through on the target. What part of the Chicago area are you in? I might be able to point you toward a good club.
