Struggling with consistent trigger timing on long crossers at 40 yards

Been shooting sporting clays for years, but I keep missing behind on those long, fast crossers at stations 7 and 8. I'm shooting a Browning 725 with a 30" barrel, using a Modified choke and 1-1/8 oz of #7.5 shot at 1200 fps. I've tried focusing on the sustained lead method, but my break percentage is still inconsistent.

I've been there with my Beretta 694. On those long crossers, I found that focusing too much on measuring the lead was causing me to stop my swing. Try switching to a pull-away method - establish your lead, then accelerate the gun slightly as you pull the trigger. Also, consider tightening up to an Improved Modified choke for those distances; it'll give you a denser pattern. What's your pre-shot routine look like on those stations?
