Struggling with consistent lead on crossing targets at 35 yards

Been shooting about 2 years, mostly sporting clays. I'm using a Browning 725 with an Improved Cylinder choke, shooting 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps. I can break most stuff inside 30 yards, but when they stretch it out to 35+ on a true crossing target (like station 7), I'm either missing behind or way out in front. I've tried sustained lead and pull-away, but my results are all over the place.

That's a classic intermediate hurdle - crossing targets at distance expose any inconsistency in your gun mount and swing. At 35 yards with an IC choke, your pattern is opening up, so your lead picture and timing need to be spot on. Instead of switching between methods, pick one (I'd suggest sustained lead for consistency) and really focus on keeping your head down and swinging through the target smoothly. Are you consciously measuring the lead, or just reacting to the target's speed? Sometimes we overthink it at distance.
