Struggling with consistency on long crossers at FITASC Compak - is it my lead method or my choke?
Been shooting FITASC Compak Sporting for a couple years now, but those long crossers on stations 3 and 7 are killing me. I'm using a Browning 725 with an IM choke, shooting 1-1/8 oz of #7.5 at 1200 fps. I've tried both sustained lead and pull-away, but I'm either missing behind or blowing the target to dust inconsistently. Anyone else find they need to switch up their method based on the specific presentation?

I feel your pain on those - they're designed to test you! With that setup, your IM choke is fine for most of it, but you might be over-choking for the really long ones where the pattern opens up too much. Try a Light Modified or even Cylinder for those stations if your gun allows quick changes. For the lead, on a true 40+ yard crosser, I've had more luck with a firm pull-away. Start with your hold point well in front, build speed with the gun, and pull through aggressively. The sustained lead can work, but any deceleration on your part will leave you behind. What's your typical break point on those targets?
