Struggling with consistency on long crossers at FITASC Compak - is it my gun mount or my lead?
Been shooting FITASC Compak for a couple years now, but those long crossers on stations 3 and 4 are killing me. I'm shooting a Browning 725 with an IM choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 at 1200fps. I feel like I'm seeing the bird, mounting smoothly, and giving what feels like good lead, but I'm getting a lot of 'just behind' breaks. I've tried both sustained and pull-away leads, but results are inconsistent.

I've been there with the 725 - great gun but it can be unforgiving on mount timing. On those long crossers, I'd bet it's less about the lead picture and more about your mount-to-shoulder timing. Try this: focus on getting the gun to your face FIRST, then let your eyes find the bird through the rib. If you're looking at the target first and bringing the gun up to it, you'll almost always be a fraction behind. Also, consider tightening up to a Full choke for those 35+ yard crossers - the IM might be letting a few slip through. What's your pre-shot routine look like on those stations?
