Struggling with consistent trigger timing on long crossers at 40 yards

Been shooting for about 8 years, NSCA certified instructor, but I keep dropping the second bird on true pairs of long crossers at station 3. Shooting a Browning 725 with a Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 at 1200fps. I feel like I'm seeing the bird well and have a good mount, but my timing feels off between the two shots.

That's a classic tough presentation! I shoot a Beretta 686 with similar loads and find that on those long crossers, I have to consciously delay my trigger pull just a hair more than feels natural. Try focusing on maintaining your swing through the first bird and letting the second one 'tell you' when to shoot - don't rush to catch up. Also, check if you're subconsciously stopping your gun after the first shot; a smooth follow-through is key. What's your foot position like on station 3?
