Struggling with consistent trigger timing on long crossers at station 4

Been shooting sporting clays for about 8 years, mostly NSCA events. At my club, station 4 has a 45-yard true pair crossing left-to-right. I'm using a Browning Citori 725 with an IM choke and Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 loads at 1200fps. I can break the first target fine, but on the second I keep either rushing the shot or stopping the gun. My footwork feels solid, but the timing just feels off.

That's a tough presentation, especially with the true pair. I shoot a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon with similar chokes and loads. What helped me was focusing on the 'pull-away' lead method for that second target - don't measure it, just see the gap and accelerate the muzzle past it. Also, try a slight pause after the first shot to reset your vision on the second bird's line. Are you consciously trying to see the bead, or just focusing hard on the target?
