Struggling with consistent trigger timing on long crossers at 40 yards

Been shooting for about 8 years, mostly sporting clays, and my nemesis lately has been those long, fast crossers on stations 7 and 8. I'm shooting a Browning 725 with a 30" barrel, using a Modified choke and 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps. I feel like I'm seeing the bird well, getting a good mount, but my break percentage is maybe 60% at best. I think my trigger timing is off - sometimes I'm ahead, sometimes behind. Anyone else battle this?

Oh man, those long crossers can be brutal. I shoot a Beretta 686 with similar setup (Imp/Mod, 7.5s at 1250). What helped me was focusing less on the 'perfect' timing and more on maintaining a smooth, consistent swing speed. Try this: pick a spot about 10 feet in front of the trap house and start your gun moving there, then maintain that rhythm all the way through. Don't think 'pull trigger now' - think 'maintain swing, break bird'. It sounds simple, but it took my consistency on those from about 60% to 85%. What's your foot position like on those stations?
