Struggling with consistency on long crossers at FITASC Compak - is it my lead method or my choke?
Been shooting FITASC Compak for a couple years now, but I keep dropping the same target. It's a long left-to-right crosser at about 35 yards from Station 3. I'm shooting a Browning 725 with an Improved Modified choke, using 1-1/8 oz of #7.5 at 1200 fps. I've tried both sustained lead and pull-away, but I'm either behind it or stopping the gun. Anyone else run into this?

That's a classic tough bird. First, your setup sounds solid - IM choke and #7.5 is perfect for that distance. The issue might be in how you're measuring that lead. At 35 yards, a true crossing target needs about 4-5 feet of lead with that load. Try this: pick a spot on the background (a tree, cloud, whatever) where you want the target to be when you pull the trigger, and focus on driving the gun to that spot with a smooth follow-through. Don't look at the target itself once you start the swing. Are you consciously checking your foot position for that station? Sometimes being a little more open to the break point helps maintain that swing.
