Struggling with consistency on long crossers at station 3 on the FITASC parcours

Been shooting FITASC for a couple years now and my nemesis is that long, fast left-to-right crosser you get at station 3. I'm shooting a Browning 725 with an IM choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8 oz #8 at 1200 fps. I feel like I see the bird, mount, and swing, but I'm either behind it or stop the gun. Tried sustained lead but timing feels off.

That's a tough bird, especially with the typical quartering-away angle. With an IM choke at those ranges (usually 35-40 yards), you've got the right tool, but the sustained lead on that presentation can be tricky because the angle changes so much. Try this: focus on your footwork first. Get your hips and shoulders pre-rotated toward where you think the break point will be, not where the bird comes from. Then, for the swing, think 'pull-away' instead of sustained. See the bird, mount into it, and accelerate the muzzle past it. The acceleration forces you to keep moving. What's your pre-shot routine look like on that stand?
