Struggling with consistent lead on crossing targets at 35 yards

Been shooting about 2 years, mostly sporting clays. I can hit most stuff inside 30 yards, but when I get a true crosser at 35+ yards, I'm missing behind consistently. I'm shooting a Browning Citori 725 with a Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 at 1200fps. I've tried sustained lead and pull-away, but can't seem to get it dialed in.

That's a classic intermediate plateau - 35-yard crossers separate the decent shooters from the good ones. With that setup, you're actually under-choked for that distance; try a Full or even an Extra Full tube. More importantly, at 35 yards you're not just adding lead, you're adding speed - your swing needs to be more aggressive. Try this: pick up the target earlier, establish your lead while it's still in your peripheral vision, then accelerate through. What's your pre-shot routine look like on those long stations?
