Anyone else think Pilla's 'High Definition' lenses are overhyped for sporting clays?
Been shooting sporting clays for years with my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon, mostly using Randolph Rangers with the brown lenses. Tried a buddy's Pilla Outlaw X7 with the 'High Definition' yellow lenses last weekend. Honestly, on a partly cloudy day at the club, I didn't see this huge clarity difference everyone talks about. Felt like I was just paying for the brand name. My scores were about the same.

I get where you're coming from. I shot with Randolphs for a decade before switching to Pilla. The 'HD' thing is subtle - it's not like going from standard to HD TV. For me, the real benefit showed up on low-light stations, like a late afternoon stand in the woods. The contrast on orange targets against dark backgrounds is noticeably better. That said, if you're mostly shooting in good light and your Randolphs work, the upgrade might not be worth the grand for you. What specific stations or lighting gave you trouble with the Pilas?
