Just got a Beretta A300 Outlander for trap - what choke should I start with?
I'm brand new to shotgun sports and just picked up a Beretta A300 Outlander for trap shooting. The gun came with a set of factory chokes (IC, M, IM, F), but I have no idea which one to use. I'll be shooting at my local club from the 16-yard line with standard 7.5 shot loads.

Welcome to the sport! For trap from the 16-yard line with your A300, I'd start with the Modified choke. That's what most folks use for standard trap - it gives you a good balance of pattern density without being too tight. I run a Briley Modified in my Browning Citori for trap and it breaks targets consistently at 35-40 yards. What specific loads are you using? Some shells pattern better with certain chokes, so it's worth trying a few boxes to see what your gun likes.
