Picking a choke for sporting clays - Muller vs. Kicks for my Beretta 686?
Been shooting my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon for about 2 years now, mostly at my local club's sporting clays course. I've been using the factory Modified choke that came with it. I'm starting to shoot more registered NSCA events and want to step up my gear. I see a lot of guys running Muller or Kicks tubes. For a mix of close rabbits and longer crossers, should I look at a Muller U2 or a Kicks High Flyer?

Good question - you're right on the edge where aftermarket chokes can really help. For your 686 and that target mix, I'd lean towards the Muller U2 in Modified. I run that exact tube in my 694 for most sporting courses. It gives you a really consistent, forgiving pattern that's great for those 25-35 yard crossers but still handles the close stuff well. The Kicks High Flyer is awesome too, but it's a bit more specialized for true long-range targets. What shells are you typically running? That can make a difference in the recommendation.
