Looking for a good all-around choke for my Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting

I've been shooting sporting clays for about two years now and mostly use the factory Modified choke that came with my A400. It works okay, but I feel like I'm missing some of the longer crossing shots, especially at stations 5 and 7 where the targets are 35+ yards out. I've been looking at Briley and Muller chokes but can't decide on a constriction. Shooting mostly 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps.

Good question - that Modified choke is solid, but you're right, it can get a little thin on true long yardage. For a dedicated sporting clays gun like your A400, I'd suggest stepping up to an Improved Modified (IM) or even a Light Full from Briley. I run a Briley IM in my Browning 725 for most of the course and switch to a Light Full for the long stations. The IM will give you a denser pattern at 35-40 yards without being too tight for the closer stuff. What's your average score look like on those longer stations?
