Looking for a good 1-1/8 oz target load for my Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting

Been shooting for about two years, mostly with my Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting with a Modified choke. I've been using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8 oz #8 shot and it's been fine, but I'm starting to reload and want to develop a good, consistent load for sporting clays. I have a MEC 9000G press and access to Winchester AA hulls, WAA12 wads, and Alliant powders. Just looking for a solid starting point that won't beat me up over 100 targets.

Great setup! I've been running a very similar load in my Browning Citori for years. A solid starting point is 18.0 grains of Alliant Extra-Lite with a WAA12 wad and 1-1/8 oz of #8 lead shot in a once-fired AA hull. It gives me about 1200 fps, breaks targets cleanly at 30-40 yards, and the recoil is very manageable. Just make sure you're using a standard 209 primer. Have you chronographed any of your loads yet? That's the best way to dial in consistency.
