Just got a Beretta A300 Outlander for trap - what factory loads should I start with?

Hey all, brand new shooter here. Just picked up a Beretta A300 Outlander with a Modified choke for trap shooting. I've been to the range twice and tried some cheap Rio target loads, but the recoil felt pretty stout and my shoulder's sore. I'm shooting from the 16-yard line. What's a good factory load that's softer shooting but still breaks targets reliably?

Welcome to the sport! The A300 is a great gun - I've got one myself. For trap at 16 yards, you can't go wrong with Federal Top Gun or Winchester AA Light Target loads in 7.5 or 8 shot. They run about 1,200 fps, which is plenty for breaking clays but much softer on the shoulder than those hot Rio loads. Stick with 1-1/8 oz loads instead of 1-1/4 oz for even less recoil. What's your barrel length on that A300? That can make a difference in how the gun handles too.
