Looking for a softer-shooting 1oz load for sporting clays with my Beretta 686

Been shooting my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I with factory 1 1/8oz loads for years, but my shoulder's starting to complain after 100+ rounds in a tournament. I've tried Federal Top Gun and Winchester AA Light Target, but they still feel a bit stout. I'm shooting mostly 16-32 yard targets with IC and LM chokes. Anyone have a favorite 1oz recipe that patterns well and doesn't kick like a mule?

I feel you on that - my 686 is the same way. For a great 1oz target load, I've had real luck with 18.0 grains of Alliant Extra-Lite under a Claybuster CB1078-12 wad. It's soft shooting, around 1200 fps, and patterns beautifully through my LM choke at 30 yards. I use once-fired Remington STS hulls and Federal 209A primers. It's been my go-to for the last two seasons. What primer are you currently using in your reloads? Sometimes that can make a difference in perceived recoil.
