Just got a Beretta A300 - what factory loads should I start with for trap?
Hey all, brand new shooter here. Just picked up a Beretta A300 Outlander with the standard Modified choke. I'll be shooting mostly trap at my local club, probably starting at the 16-yard line. There are so many options on the shelf - Federal, Winchester AA, Remington STS - and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Just want something that cycles reliably and breaks clays without beating me up.

Welcome to the sport! For your A300, you really can't go wrong starting with a standard 1-1/8 oz, 7.5 or 8 shot load at around 1200 fps. Winchester AA Low Recoil or Federal Top Gun are both excellent choices - they're soft shooting, cycle great in semi-autos like yours, and have plenty of pattern for 16-yard trap. I'd grab a box of each and see which one you and your gun like best. What's the shot size your club typically has in the machines?
