My reloads for sporting clays are inconsistent - help with wad seating?

Been reloading for about a year with a MEC 600 Jr. using once-fired STS hulls, Claybuster WAA12 wads, and Alliant Extra-Lite powder. My patterns with my Beretta A300 seem to have more flyers than when I shoot factory Federal Top Gun. I'm loading 1 oz of #8 shot for sporting clays. Could it be my wad seating pressure?

Good catch noticing the flyers - that's often a wad seating issue. With STS hulls and Claybuster wads, you want firm but not crushing pressure. Try this: adjust your MEC so the wad just starts to compress when the handle bottoms out. I had similar issues until I started checking each finished shell - the crimp should be smooth with no gaps. What's your current powder charge? Sometimes a half-grain adjustment can help everything settle better.
