Looking for a softer-shooting 1-1/8oz 12ga target load for my Beretta 686

Been shooting my Beretta 686 Sporting for a few years now, mostly with Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8s. It patterns great through my Modified choke, but after 100+ rounds in a session, I'm definitely feeling it. Anyone have experience with a factory load that's a bit gentler but still breaks clays consistently at 35-40 yards? Considering trying Winchester AA Low Recoil or maybe something from Fiocchi.

I shoot a 686 too, and I know exactly what you mean. The Winchester AA Low Recoil 1-1/8oz #8s are a solid choice - they're about 200-300 fps slower than standard loads and noticeably softer on the shoulder. I've had good luck with them on sporting clays out to 40 yards with a Light Modified choke. Another option worth a box is the Rio Target Load in #8.5 shot; the smaller shot size seems to give a denser pattern for me, so I feel confident even with the lower velocity. Have you tried switching to a lighter wad column in your reloads, or are you sticking with factory for now?
