Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting vs Browning Maxus Sporting for sporting clays?
I've been shooting a Mossberg 500 for about 2 years and want to upgrade to a semi-auto for sporting clays. I'm looking at the Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting and Browning Maxus Sporting. Both feel good in the store, but I'm not sure which handles better for longer sessions. My budget is around $2k.

I've shot both extensively - the A400 Xcel is my main gun now. The big difference is the recoil system; Beretta's Kick-Off really does make a difference on 100+ target days, especially with 1-1/8 oz loads. The Maxus is a great gun too, but I found the A400 cycles cleaner with lighter target loads. Have you had a chance to pattern them with your preferred ammo? That usually tells you which one fits you better.
