Just got my first shotgun - a used Browning Citori - and the LOP feels too long. What should I do?

I'm brand new to sporting clays and picked up a used Browning Citori 12 gauge. It's a beautiful gun, but when I mount it, the stock feels like it's too long for me. I'm 5'8" with average arms. Haven't shot it yet, just dry mounting at home. Should I get it cut down or just learn to deal with it?

Congrats on the Citori - great first gun! Don't cut anything yet. First, measure your actual LOP - from the trigger to the middle of the butt pad. Most Citoris come around 14.5-14.75". At 5'8", you might need 14" or even 13.75". Try a slip-on recoil pad first - they add about 0.5" and are cheap. If that helps, then consider having a gunsmith cut it properly. A bad LOP will mess up your mount and cause misses. What's your actual measurement?
