Just got a used Browning Citori - what's the first thing I should check?

Hey folks, I'm brand new to shotgunning and just picked up a used Browning Citori 12ga over/under for clays. It's my first gun and I'm excited but a little nervous. The previous owner said it's been well-maintained, but I want to make sure it's safe and ready to go before I take it out. What should I look at first?

Great first gun choice - Citoris are tanks that'll last forever with basic care. First thing: give it a good cleaning, especially the bores and choke tubes if it has them. Check the action for any excessive wobble when it's open, and make sure the safety engages properly. I'd also recommend having a local gunsmith do a quick safety check if you're unsure - cheap insurance. What length barrels did you get, and are you planning on shooting trap or skeet first?
