Just bought my first shotgun - a used Beretta A300. What's the first thing I should do?
Hey everyone, super excited to join the sport! I just picked up a used Beretta A300 semi-auto from a local shop. It looks clean, but I'm not sure where to start. Should I just take it straight to the range, or is there some maintenance I should do first?

Congrats on the A300 - that's a great first gun! Before you shoot it, I'd definitely give it a good cleaning. Used guns can have old oil or gunk in the action. Field strip it (the manual's online if you don't have it), clean the barrel and gas system, and lightly oil the moving parts. That'll help it run smooth. What gauge is it, and what are you planning to shoot - clays or hunting?
