My GSP is creeping on planted quail - how to fix without breaking his drive?

Been working my 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer on planted quail for field trial prep. He's got a solid point but creeps forward about 5-10 yards after initial point, especially when the birds are holding tight. I've tried the check cord and 'whoa' command, but he gets frustrated and loses intensity. Running him with a Tri-Tronics e-collar on low stim.

That creeping is super common with high-drive GSPs on planted birds. Instead of correcting after he creeps, try this: when he first locks up, immediately walk in and flush the bird yourself. The goal is to teach him that birds fly from where he first pointed, not after he creeps. Keep the e-collar on tone-only for this drill - the instant reward of the flush should reinforce the steadiness. Also, are you using wild-flown quail or pen-raised? Pen-raised birds tend to hold tighter and can actually encourage creeping.
