My GSP is breaking at flush - any tips for steadiness with a hot dog?

I've got a 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who's solid on point but breaks as soon as the bird flushes. We're hunting pheasants over a Browning Citori with IC choke using Federal Premium 1-1/4oz #6s. I've tried check cords and e-collar conditioning, but he's so birdy he just can't help himself. Anyone else deal with this with a high-drive versatile breed?

Been there with my Vizsla - that bird drive is both a blessing and a curse. What worked for me was using a remote launcher with clipped-wing pigeons. I'd put him on a check cord, get him steady on point, then flush the bird but keep tension on the cord. Only released him after the shot when I gave the command. Took about 20 sessions over a month, but he finally got it. Are you working with planted birds or wild flushes?
