My GSP keeps creeping forward on point - how do I fix this?
Been working with my 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer for about a year now. He's got a solid point most of the time, but when we're working planted birds, he'll start creeping forward after about 30 seconds. I've tried using a check cord and saying "whoa," but he just gets tense and sometimes breaks completely. Using a Tri-Tronics e-collar on low stimulation doesn't seem to help either.

That creeping is super common with young pointers - my first Vizsla did the same thing. What worked for me was going back to basics with a pigeon pole. Plant the bird, let him point, and the second he creeps, give a firm "whoa" and gently pull back on the check cord. If he holds, walk up and flush the bird. If he breaks, reset him and try again. Keep sessions short - 15-20 minutes max. Have you tried using a remote launcher so you can flush without walking past him? That pressure of you moving forward sometimes triggers the creep.
