My GSP is breaking point too early on planted birds
I've been working my 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer on planted quail at my local club. He's solid on the point initially, but as soon as I move in to flush, he's creeping in and sometimes bumping the birds before I can get a shot off. I've tried the 'whoa' command and a check cord, but he still gets too excited. We're hunting over a Beretta A400 with an IC choke using 7.5 shot.

That's a super common issue with young pointers - the excitement just gets to them. What worked for my English Setter was using a remote e-collar (I like the Dogtra 280C) on a low stim setting the moment he started to creep. Pair that with reinforcing the 'whoa' command from further back, gradually closing the distance over multiple sessions. Also, try mixing in some clipped-wing pigeons - they hold tighter and give you more time. How far out is he typically pointing before the creep starts?
