Anyone else find Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 1-1/4oz #5s pattern too tight out of a Modified choke?

Been hunting pheasant with my Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus for two seasons now. Switched to Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 12ga 2-3/4" 1-1/4oz #5 shot this year. At 35-40 yards, the pattern out of the factory Modified choke seems incredibly dense, almost like a Full. I'm worried I'm missing birds because the pattern is too small. Tried it on patterning paper and confirmed it's tight.

Yeah, I've seen that with some of the heavier pheasant loads, especially the ones with harder shot like the Golden Pheasant. The Modified choke in the A400 is already a solid performer, and with a dense, high-antimony shot column, it can act tighter. For those 35-40 yard crossing shots on roosters, you might want to drop down to an Improved Cylinder or even a Skeet choke. It'll open that pattern up and give you a better margin for error. What's your typical shooting distance on most of your birds?
