Hevi-Shot vs. Boss for late-season geese?

Been using Hevi-Shot #2s in my Browning A5 for geese over decoys at 30-40 yards. Pattern's good, but I'm wondering if I'm leaving some birds crippled. Buddy swears by Boss #3s for their downrange energy. Anyone have real-world experience comparing these two for big Canadas when they're decoying tight?

Good question. I've run both through my Beretta A400 with a Patternmaster Code Black Goose choke. For those 40-yard-and-in shots, I actually prefer the Boss #3s. The pellet count is higher, and the denser material seems to put more pellets in the vitals on crossing shots. The Hevi-Shot #2s hit harder per pellet, but I've seen more cripples with marginal hits. That said, if you're taking longer passing shots, the #2s might be better. What choke are you running in that A5?
