First time pheasant hunter - what's a good all-around load?
Just got my license and I'm heading out with some buddies for pheasant in a couple weeks. I've got a Beretta A300 Ultima semi-auto. I've been looking at ammo and there's so many options - 6 shot, 7.5 shot, different velocities. What's a solid choice that won't tear up the birds but will still get the job done at 25-30 yards?

For a first pheasant hunt with that A300, you can't go wrong with a standard 1 1/8 oz load of #6 shot. Federal Premium or Winchester Super-X in 2 3/4" shells are both great choices. I'd start with a Modified choke - it gives you a good pattern at those ranges without being too tight. That setup will handle most shots you'll see over a good dog. What choke are you planning to run in that A300?
