Trying to dial in my 20ga for late-season pheasants

Been hunting pheasants for two seasons now with my Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus 20ga. I'm using an IC choke and Federal Premium 3" #5s at about 1,200 fps. I'm consistently hitting birds at 25-30 yards but they're getting up and running. Should I tighten the choke, go up in shot size, or both?

Good question - late-season roosters are tough! I'd try a Modified choke first with your current #5s. That'll tighten your pattern just enough for those 30-35 yard shots without being too tight for closer flushes. If they're still running, step up to #4s. I've had great results with Winchester Super-X 3" #4s through Mod in my Browning Citori 20ga. How's your dog work on those runners?
