Anyone else notice a difference in pattern density between Federal Black Cloud and Boss shells for late-season geese?
Been using Federal Black Cloud FS Steel #2s for years on Canada geese with my Browning A5, full choke at 40 yards. Patterns were always tight. Tried Boss #2s this season - same gun, same choke, same distance - and the pattern seems more open with fewer pellets in the vitals. Anyone else experience this or am I just having an off day?

Yeah, I've seen that too with Boss shells. The difference is in the wad design - Boss uses their TSS wad that opens differently than Federal's FliteControl. For late-season geese where you need maximum pellet count in the vitals at 40+ yards, I'd stick with the Black Cloud or try Hevi-Shot's Hevi-Metal. What's your barrel length on that A5? Sometimes that 28" vs 26" can make a difference with how those wads perform.
