Hevi-Shot vs. Boss for late-season geese?
Been using Federal Black Cloud for most of my goose hunting with my Browning A5, but I'm looking at stepping up to a premium load for those high, wary birds in January. I've heard great things about both Hevi-Shot's Hevi-Metal and the new Boss shells. Anyone have real-world experience comparing the two on big Canadas at 40+ yards?

Good question. I've run both through my Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus. For me, Boss in #2 shot patterns a bit tighter and seems to hit harder at the longer ranges you're talking about, especially with an Improved Modified choke. The Hevi-Metal is no slouch though, and I like it better in the wind because it seems to hold a more consistent pattern. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either—maybe grab a box of each and see what your gun likes best. What choke are you running in that A5?
