Hevi-Shot vs. Boss for late-season geese - which patterns tighter at 50+ yards?
Been running Hevi-Shot #2s in my Browning A5 for the last few seasons on Canadas, but I'm seeing more cripples on those longer shots when they're flaring. My buddy swears by Boss #3s for the extra pellet count. I'm shooting an IC choke, 3.5" shells. Anyone done a side-by-side comparison on patterning boards at extended ranges?

I've patterned both extensively in my Beretta A400. At 50 yards, Boss #3s definitely give you a denser pattern with that smaller shot, but the Hevi-Shot #2s maintain energy better for clean kills on big geese. For late-season birds that are wary, I'd actually suggest trying Hevi-Shot #4s - you get more pellets than #2s but still keep the knockdown power. What's your barrel length on that A5? Might want to try a Modified choke too for those longer shots. Have you considered stepping down to #4s before switching brands completely?
