Hevi-Shot vs. Boss for late-season honkers?
Been hunting geese for 15 years, mostly with my Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus. I've always used Hevi-Shot #2s for late-season Canadas when they're wearing their thickest feathers and flying high. This past season, I saw a few guys swearing by Boss shells. Anyone have real-world experience comparing the two on big, wary birds at 40+ yards?

Good question. I've run both through my Browning A5 for the last three seasons. For me, Boss #3s (the 1 1/4 oz load) in a Modified choke have been the ticket. They seem to hold a tighter, more consistent pattern past 40 yards compared to the Hevi-Shot #2s I used before, which I felt started to get a little ragged at that range. The Boss pellets are harder, so they deform less on impact—crucial for those big honkers. That said, they're pricey, and the Hevi-Shot is no slouch either. What choke are you running in that A400?
