Struggling with consistency on long crossers at my local sporting clays course

I'm having trouble staying consistent on those 40+ yard crossers, especially the left-to-right ones. I'm shooting a Browning Citori 725 with an Improved Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot at 1200fps. I can break them sometimes, but it feels like I'm either rushing the shot or overleading. Anyone else deal with this?

Those long crossers can be tricky! I shoot a Beretta 686 with a similar setup (IM choke, #8s). What helped me was focusing on my foot position - I open up my stance more toward the target origin and really commit to the swing before I even call for the bird. Try visualizing the target's path and start your gun movement earlier. Also, don't be afraid to tighten up to a Full choke if the course allows - gives you a denser pattern at those distances. What's your typical lead on those 40-yarders?
