Struggling with those long crossers on Station 7 at my local course
Been shooting sporting clays for about 2 years now and those 40-yard crossing targets on Station 7 keep wrecking my score. I'm using a Browning Citori with a Modified choke and 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps. I can break the closer stuff fine, but these long birds just seem to disappear or I'm hitting behind them.

Those long crossers are tough! I shoot a Beretta 686 with Improved Modified for those. Try moving your hold point further out - start with your muzzle about 15 yards in front of the trap house instead of right at it. You'll have more time to establish your lead and follow through. Also, consider switching to #7.5 shot for those distances; they hold their pattern better. What's your foot position like when you're facing that station?
