Struggling with consistency on long crossers at my local sporting clays course
I've been shooting sporting clays for about 3 years now and usually do okay, but there's this one station at my club that's killing me. It's a true pair with a long left-to-right crosser at about 45 yards and a closer quartering target. I'm using my Browning Citori with an Improved Modified choke and 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot at 1200 fps. I keep missing behind on the crosser no matter what I try.

That's a tough presentation - I've been there! With those long crossers, try increasing your lead more than you think you need. For a 45-yard crossing target, you might need 8-10 feet of lead depending on the speed. Also, check your foot position - I find that opening up my stance toward the break point helps maintain swing through the target. Have you tried switching to a Modified choke instead of IM? Sometimes a slightly more open pattern gives you a bit more margin for error on those long shots. What's your usual hold point on that station?
