Struggling with consistency on long crossers at my local sporting clays course
I've been shooting sporting clays for about 3 years now and usually do pretty well, but there's this one station at my club that's killing me. It's a true pair with a long left-to-right crosser at about 45 yards and a quartering away bird. I'm using my Browning Citori 725 with an Improved Modified choke and Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 loads. I keep hitting the first bird fine but missing the second consistently.

That's a tough station - sounds like you might be rushing the second shot after the first. With true pairs at that distance, I'd suggest trying a Modified choke instead of IM to get a slightly wider pattern for the quartering bird. On the second target, try keeping your head down on the stock and let your body follow through more - don't lift your head to see if you hit it. What's your foot position like on that station? Sometimes a slight adjustment there can make all the difference.
